Black Dollar Circulation Simulation – Phase 1

A live experiment in how far a single digital dollar can travel through our networks.

What this phase does

Phase 1 treats a link like a dollar. Every time someone clicks Count Me In, that click is one step in the dollar’s journey. We’re not tracking purchases yet – we’re tracking reach, speed, and where interest shows up.

Each recorded step logs:

time of the step (UTC),
approximate location (if the browser shares it),
IP address (for de-duplication), and
optional self-identified race (Black / Non-Black / Prefer not to say).

What we can see from the data

From this simple setup we can measure:

Reach – how many people raise their hand and join the simulation,
Velocity – how quickly new steps show up over time,
Geography – which cities and regions participate most,
Equity patterns – how Black participation compares to overall movement, and
Drop-off – where momentum slows down or dies.

How this connects to the bigger picture

When people talk about “how long the Black dollar stays in the community,” they’re usually working from theory or estimates. This project flips that: it builds a real chain of movement we can point to, analyze, and improve on.

Future phases can add more realistic behavior – like simulating purchases between people and businesses – but Phase 1 is intentionally simple. One link, one click, one step.
